The National Weather Service is warning residents of Central and North Georgia of some possible bad weather on the way.

Expect to see a good amount of sun the rest of Sunday, but don’t be surprised by scattered showers and thunderstorms into the evening.

Late at night into Monday morning, some may see the weather worsen. NWS advises that the northeastern section of the state may have damaging winds and hail. The agency says an “isolated and brief tornado” is unlikely, but not out of the question for the far northwest of Georgia.

The bulk of central Georgia, including most of metro Atlanta, may see those conditions, along with frequent lightning and heavy rain.

The worst of the weather is expected to pass by 4 a.m., but Monday morning commuters may still see some storms, including rain and gusty conditions. The day is expected to be sunny with a high close to 82.
