WATCH: Woman vandalizes Marietta school buses with pellet gun, police say
Police are searching for a woman accused of using a pellet gun to shoot and damage the windows of 14 Marietta school buses in a bizarre act of vandalism caught on security cameras.
The short video clip shows a woman quickly but deliberately walking through the well-lit parking lot and methodically firing what Marietta police believe was a pistol-shaped pellet gun into the windows of two separate buses.
The incident took place Monday around 9 p.m., police said in a social media post. The damage was discovered when bus drivers arrived for work Tuesday morning.
The unusual case prompted Marietta police to ask on social media, “WHO IS THIS?!”
Police have publicly shared the video in the hopes that someone will recognize the suspect and report them.
“It appears to definitely be an adult and just based on profile and shape it appears to be a female,” Marietta police spokesman Officer Chuck McPhilamy told Channel 2 Action News. The video also shows the shooter using her left hand to fire the gun.
According to Channel 2, Marietta City Schools said some buses will need their damaged windshields to be replaced before they can return to service. The school district suffered some bus delays Tuesday morning but was able to borrow buses from Cobb County Schools to make up some student transportation, the news station reported.
Anyone with information about the incident or the identity of the suspect is asked to contact Crime Stoppers Greater Atlanta at 404-577-8477 or the Marietta police tip line at 770-794-6990.
