Teen suspect arrested in Adamsville neighborhood homicide

Atlanta police this weekend arrested a Union City teenager in connection with a fatal shooting last month in the city’s Adamsville neighborhood.
Mekhi Antonio McKinney, 18, was taken into custody Saturday on charges of murder, armed robbery and aggravated assault.
The charges stem from an April 8 shooting when police went to a home in the 200 block of Argus Circle and found 24-year-old Qwantavius Nigee Harris lying in the front yard with a gunshot wound to the midsection. The critically injured victim was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he died, according to police.
Police on Wednesday released body camera footage of McKinney’s arrest outside a grocery store.
Detective Kindu Franklin, the lead investigator on the case, established probable cause and secured warrants for McKinney’s arrest April 25, police said.
Fugitive investigators in southwest Atlanta detained McKinney on Saturday and homicide detectives questioned him, according to police. He was taken to the Fulton County Jail without incident following the interview.
McKinney remained jailed there without bond Wednesday, according to online booking records.
