Clayton County police are asking for the public’s help Tuesday to identify a man seen violently trashing a convenience store in Conley last month, authorities said.
The man was captured on video knocking over food racks, hitting a credit card reader and throwing snacks at Parker’s Grocery on Dec. 21, according to surveillance footage released by the department. Police said the suspect went on a tirade after a cashier at the store denied him cigarettes.
“The male subject did not have an ID and threw a violent temper tantrum,” police said. “He knocked over displays, destroyed a credit card reader, opened the cooler and destroyed cold products. He threw a trash can across the store before threatening to shoot the cashier.”
Police responded around 2:40 p.m. to a disturbance at the store, located in the 1700 block of Rock Cut Road. When officers arrived, they spoke to witnesses and discovered the man went to the store to buy cigarettes and other items, police said.
After the incident, authorities said the man left the store and was driving a newer model Dodge Ram pickup. The vehicle has white bumpers, black rims, marker lights and oversized mirrors, police said.
The suspect was described as about 5-foot-3. Anyone with information is asked to call Clayton County police at 770-477-3630.
