A pedestrian was killed early Sunday after she was struck by two separate vehicles on I-75 in Fulton County, according to authorities.

The incident happened at around 1:40 a.m. in the northbound lanes of the interstate near Northside Drive, Atlanta police said. Officers responded and found a 36-year-old woman unresponsive after receiving a call about a person struck by a vehicle. She died at the scene.

The victim was identified as Sharletta Atterbury by the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office.

According to authorities, Atterbury was walking in the middle of the interstate when she was hit. The drivers remained in the area and cooperated, police said, through it’s unclear whether they face any charges.

Traffic was shut down for several hours after the crash. At around 5 a.m., the scene was cleared.

Police have not said why she was walking on the interstate. The incident remains under investigation.
