Police have identified the man they say fired shots toward a Sandy Springs sports bar earlier this month.

Mahdi Akbar Patton, 30, is wanted in a Feb. 9 shooting at Tony’s Sports Bar and Grill along Roswell Road, Sandy Springs police said Monday. Arrest warrants have been issued for aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Patton, who was forced to leave the bar, fired multiple rounds into the building from the parking lot as he was leaving, Sandy Springs police spokesman Sgt. Salvador Ortega said at the time. Ortega said at least two groups were fighting inside when they were told to leave.

When officers responded to the scene about 11:30 p.m., bullet holes were found in the building and in a vehicle in the parking lot, Ortega added. No injuries were reported.

Police said Patton is known to have connections in Minnesota. He is considered “armed and dangerous” and the public is advised to call 911 instead of approaching him, officials said.

“We know this guy is pretty dangerous. For someone to just shoot at a crowd into a business. You have no regard for human life,” Ortega said.

Anyone with information on the shooting or Patton’s whereabouts is asked to contact Sandy Springs police Detective Delaney via phone at 770-551-3313 or email at wdelaney@sandyspringsga.gov.
