The search for a robbery suspect in Rockdale County continues after police say he held a child at gunpoint in order to get inside a Conyers apartment.
The incident happened July 26 at the Keswick Village apartments off Centennial Olympic Parkway around 4:30 p.m. A woman called 911 to report that a man entered her home by following her son inside while holding a gun to his head, according to police.
A sketch of the man, who police are trying to identify, was released Thursday by authorities. He was described as between the ages of 28 and 30 and about 5-foot-4. Police added that he had chin- to shoulder-length braids, a short beard and possible tattoos on his arm.
Once inside the apartment, the man is accused of demanding money from the woman and stealing her phone and a handgun.
“The 11-year-old was playing outside when he was approached by a male subject,” Conyers police Sgt. Quantavis Garcia told Channel 2 Action News. “With somebody targeting an 11-year-old and putting a gun to his head, that is outrageous, dangerous. This person does not deserve to be in our community.”
Police told the news station that there was also a 1-year-old inside the apartment at the time. Investigators believe the attack was random and that the suspect did not know the victims, Channel 2 reported.
