A man accused in a 2019 homicide was arrested Friday by a Fulton County SWAT team after more than two years on the run, officials said.

William D. Whatley, 40, was charged with murder and concealing the death of another in a May 20, 2019, incident near Fulton Industrial Boulevard, police said.

Whatley was booked into the Fulton County Jail and his bond has not been posted, online jail records show.

Authorities released his photo earlier this week in hopes that the public could help locate him. Police said at the time he might be difficult to identify because his face is disfigured due to a gunshot wound.

No further details were released about his arrest.

Fulton police also told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution they would not release information about the case, including the victim’s name.
