A man who recently moved to North Carolina from Clayton County has been arrested on multiple charges related to the possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material, the GBI announced Wednesday.

Laine Mullins, 28, formerly of Jonesboro, was arrested Monday on four counts of sexual exploitation of children, GBI spokeswoman Natalie Ammons said in a news release. After receiving a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, GBI agents began an investigation into Mullins’ online activity, which resulted in taking out several arrest warrants against him.

When agents with the GBI’s Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes unit executed a search warrant at Mullins’ former home in Jonesboro, they found evidence that he had moved to North Carolina just two weeks before, Ammons said. The GBI requested assistance from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, which obtained a search warrant for Mullins’ electronic devices and found him at his new home in Hope Mills.

Mullins was arrested and his devices were searched, leading to authorities seizing digital evidence in the case, Ammons said. Mullins was booked into jail in North Carolina and is awaiting extradition to Georgia. His four charges include the accusation that he distributed child sexual abuse material.
