The Downtown Connector was completely shut down for more than two hours in both directions Friday night as commuters tried to get home.

According to the Georgia Department of Transportation, the interstate was blocked near Peachtree and Pine streets at around 6 p.m. Footage from the scene showed a heavy police presence.

Atlanta police confirmed they responded to the area with medical personnel. Officials started leaving the area around 8:30 p.m., allowing for traffic to begin moving again.
