A staff member of the DeKalb County Jail has been fired and arrested after he was accused of having sexual contact with an inmate, officials said Friday.

Keontey Damond Brown is charged with violating his oath of office, going inside of guard lines and two counts of first-degree sexual contact by an employee or agent, DeKalb sheriff’s office spokeswoman Cynthia Williams said in a news release.

The Decatur man is accused of taking contraband to an inmate and also engaging in “verbal and physical sexual contact” with them while working as a detention officer, Williams said. No further details about the type of contraband or the nature of the contact have been released.

Jail records show that three counts against Brown stem from an incident Sept. 18, while one count of sexual contact by an employee allegedly took place Sunday. Brown was arrested and booked into the DeKalb jail Thursday.
