Police ID suspect, victim in fatal shooting at Peachtree City CVS
A domestic incident between two men spilled into public at a CVS in Peachtree City on Wednesday morning, leading to a dispute that ended when one man fatally shot the other, police said. The suspect was arrested at the scene.
Police have identified both men involved in a shooting at a Peachtree City pharmacy that left one dead and led to the arrest of the second Wednesday morning, officials said.
The shooting took place at a CVS on Lexington Circle and was considered an isolated incident, Peachtree City police spokesman Cpl. Donte Phillips confirmed in an email to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
The victim was identified as 35-year-old Donnell Hicks of Newnan, Phillips said. Hicks was a CVS employee, but the incident unfolded “outside of the store in its entirety,” Phillips said.
Police emphasized there was no danger to the public in the aftermath of the shooting. The suspect, 45-year-old Marlon C. Jones of Fairburn, was taken into custody when officers responded to the scene, Phillips said.
Officials have not shared specific details about what led to the shooting, but Phillips said the two men knew each other and the incident was “domestic in nature.”
A black Dodge Challenger was towed from the fatal shooting scene at a Peachtree City CVS.
The CVS is located in a busy shopping center off Floy Farr Parkway, less than a mile from McIntosh High School.
