One person was critically injured and three others were hurt in a 10-vehicle crash on I-85 North that blocked traffic in Suwanee for hours Thursday morning, officials said.
The crash happened around 8 a.m. near Ga. 317, according to the Georgia State Patrol. When troopers arrived, they found all six northbound lanes blocked by the wreck, which included a tractor-trailer.
Two of the vehicles were overturned, and one driver had to be extricated by Gwinnett County firefighters, the GSP said. That driver suffered a serious head injury and was rushed to Northside Hospital Gwinnett in critical condition. At least three other people reported injuries, but the extent of those injuries was not disclosed.
Gwinnett police set up detours to move traffic onto Old Peachtree Road and Sugarloaf Parkway until lanes reopened shortly before noon.
Authorities did not say what caused the crash, as it remains under investigation.
