A 17-year-old was arrested Tuesday, a day after another teenager was taken into custody in connection with the death of a man found outside a Conyers motel, police said.
Quintavious Morgan was located at an apartment complex in DeKalb County and is facing charges of murder in Sunday’s killing. The second suspect, a 15-year-old boy who was not publicly identified, was turned in by his parents at the police department Monday, according to authorities.
Conyers police said Morgan and the other teen “knew the victim before the shooting occurred,” but they are still working to determine a motive in the death of 33-year-old Dontavius Hardeman.
A report of a suspicious vehicle at the Intown Suites on Northlake Drive off Ga. 138 led officers to Hardeman’s body at about 6:20 a.m. Sunday. The victim was found dead inside a black pickup truck, police confirmed.
It was not clear if Hardeman was a guest at the motel.
“We send our deepest condolences to Mr. Hardeman’s family as they mourn his loss. We, as the police department, owe it to victims, their families and our community to fulfill our vision, which is to make the city of Conyers a safe city,” officials said.
Morgan remains in the Rockdale County Jail. The 15-year-old was booked into a juvenile detention center.
The investigation remains active, and anyone with information is asked to contact Conyers police at 770-929-4203.
