A 17-year-old was shot and killed Thursday night at an apartment complex in Austell, according to Cobb County authorities.

Officers were called to the Residence at Riverside apartments just before 8:30 p.m. after getting multiple reports of gunshots at the property, Cobb police said in a statement. As they were responding, the call was upgraded when they learned a person had been shot.

Officers found the teenage victim at the scene suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, police said. He was taken to the hospital but later died. He has not been publicly identified.

No further information was released about the circumstances around the shooting. No arrests were made, and officials did not say if a suspect had been identified.

Police continue to investigate this case and are asking for help from the public. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Cobb police department’s major crimes unit at 770-499-3945.
