One person was killed when a car fell off the Buford Spring Connector onto I-75 early Sunday morning, according to officials.

The crash happened shortly before 3 a.m. in the area of the northbound expressways for I-75 and I-85, just past 17th Street, the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center reported.

When Atlanta police arrived, they found that a Kia Soul and a Chrysler 300 had been in a wreck. The driver of the Kia was pronounced dead at the scene, police said in a statement. The person’s identity has not been released.

The investigation indicates that the driver of the Kia was traveling south on the Buford Spring Connector when the car struck a concrete barrier wall, rolled over and fell onto the expressway below, according to police. The Kia was then struck by the Chrysler that had been traveling on the I-75 North expressway.

The driver of the Chrysler refused medical treatment at the scene, police said.

The crash remains under investigation. Police have not disclosed any other information.

Last year, two people were hurt after a vehicle they were in careened over a hedge dividing the connector road from I-75 and rolled onto the northbound lanes of the interstate before the Northside Drive exit.
