A 21-year-old man was sentenced to life in prison for sexual encounters he had with a 13-year-old girl at a Norcross hotel, authorities said.

Isham Trinnell Clay, 21, was found guilty of aggravated child molestation, enticing a child for indecent purposes and child molestation, for which he was sentenced to “life plus 20 years to serve in prison followed by 30 years of probation,” Gwinnett County Chief Assistant District Attorney Dan Mayfield said Thursday.

Clay met the 13-year-old victim at an extended stay hotel in Norcross, where both were staying with their families. According to the Gwinnett DA, they engaged in sexual activity multiple times while staying there — even after the victim told Clay her age.

Local police arrested Clay after an attendant reported that a witness had heard sexual noises in the women’s bathroom of the hotel lobby, Mayfield said in a news release.

Clay was found guilty on all counts except one charge of statutory rape, for which the jury deemed him not guilty.
