Police are looking for a suspect they say followed a 76-year-old man into a Gwinnett County Kroger and punched him in the face.

The incident started with a spat in the fire lane outside the Dacula store, according to an incident report.

The 76-year-old told police he was walking into the Kroger on Braselton Highway about 4:30 p.m. last Thursday when he saw someone parked in the fire lane.

“They were parked there and as I walked past I commented, ‘This is not a parking place,’” the man, who did not want to be identified, told Channel 2 Action News. “That’s all I said to anybody.”

He then walked into the store, according to the incident report.

Surveillance footage shows a woman who had been in the parked car walk inside the store and say something to the victim, according to Channel 2.

That’s when a man who was with the woman allegedly assaulted the older man.

“The next thing I know, this jerk comes around and just cold clocks me right smack on the floor,” the victim said.

The alleged attacker ran away before police arrived. They are still working to identify him.
