A 76-year-old man died Monday from injuries suffered in a house fire in Cherokee County this weekend, officials said.

The homeowners, ages 82 and 74, and another couple visiting from New Jersey were inside the home at the time, along with a 5-year-old, Cavender confirmed.

The 74-year-old woman was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital and her husband was taken to West Cobb Hospital, Cavender said. The visiting couple were also transported but the 76-year-old man died from heart failure, Cavender said. His wife was treated at Kennestone and released.

The 5-year-old was not injured.

Investigators are still working to determine the cause.
