Cobb County police are searching for a driver who hit and critically injured a 14-year-old Tuesday evening.

The collision occurred about 6 p.m. near the intersection of Cunningham Road and Crosswinds Circle near Marietta, Cobb police spokeswoman Officer Sydney Melton said.

According to police, the pedestrian was struck by a dark-colored sedan after entering the roadway. The driver did not stop after hitting the teen.

Surveillance footage from a nearby home and business place the car in the area before and after the crash, Melton said. However, police do not have a make or model of the vehicle.

The teen, who was not identified, was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital with serious injuries. The 14-year-old remains in critical condition.

Anyone with information is asked to call Cobb police at 770-499-3987.
