A 16-year-old boy was arrested after police in Statesboro said he beat a pregnant woman, threatened her and then fired shots at her.

The teenager, whose name was not released due to his age, is charged with two counts of aggravated assault, one count of kidnapping and one count of battery in connection with the incident, Statesboro police said in a Facebook post.

Officers were sent to the Park Place Apartments on Lanier Drive just after midnight Wednesday on a shots-fired call. When they arrived, the pregnant woman said the 16-year-old dragged her into an apartment and beat her. At some point, he threatened her life, the woman told police.

When the woman’s mother arrived to take her away from the apartment, the teen fired several shots toward both women, police said. No one was injured in the shooting.

Police said the woman and the teen knew each other. Officers were able to identify the teen and take him into custody, officials said. He was taken to the Regional Youth Detention Center.
