A man who allegedly used social media to lure women to a college in Cobb County before robbing them at gunpoint was arrested Tuesday.
Brandon Juvan Washington, 27, of Brookhaven, was wanted in connection with two separate incidents at Chattahoochee Technical College in Marietta. In both, the victims were women Washington contacted via social media, according to arrest warrants obtained by AJC.com.
One woman told Cobb police a man arranged to meet her on campus Nov. 4 to buy a cellphone. She brought along her friend, and the two women waited in the victim’s car.
When the buyer arrived, he “brandished a firearm and robbed the victim's phone," according to a warrant. The man then ran away.
Washington was identified through a search of social media accounts and cellphone records, police said. Investigators also obtained a video of the alleged robbery that showed a man matching his description running from the scene.
Then, on Nov. 30, Washington is accused of robbing another woman. The victim told police Washington, a former college friend, reached out to her on Snapchat and said he “wanted to meet up.” He asked her to meet at Chattahoochee Tech.
He allegedly “pointed a black handgun at her and demanded her to give (him) everything she had," police said.
She handed over her cellphone, her purse, a pair of headphones and even gave him her designer boots. After that, the victim told police Washington took off running.
Washington is being held in the Cobb County jail without bond on charges of armed robbery and aggravated assault.
