Lt. Nathan Taylor was sitting in his patrol car on I-85 North in Troup County when he spotted a vehicle skid to a stop nearby.

A woman jumped out, ran over to the deputy and told him she had been kidnapped in Alabama.

That prompted a high-speed police chase through three Georgia counties, ending with the arrest of Rubin Mack, 40, of College Park, the Troup County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post.

The woman approached Taylor about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday and said she was kidnapped by Mack in Montgomery hours earlier, police said. Taylor notified other deputies, who quickly gave chase.

The pursuit, which continued through Troup County and Meriwether County, ended with the driver crashing into another vehicle in Harris County, police said. Mack was arrested without issue.

He faces charges of fleeing police, driving with a suspended license, speeding, reckless driving and failure to maintain lane, Troup County jail records show. As of Saturday, he remained in Troup County’s custody.

Montgomery police told AJC.com the two knew each other and previously dated. They also said Mack will be charged with kidnapping and third-degree domestic violence assault there.
