An Atlanta woman pleaded guilty to a hit-and-run that injured a Sandy Springs police officer in June 2019, authorities said.
Madison Kelley Leftwich received a two-year prison sentence followed by eight years on probation after pleading guilty Friday to a six-count indictment, the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office said.
On June 3, Leftwich drove her Toyota sedan into the officer, who was working an off-duty job while wearing his full police uniform and a traffic vest, AJC.com previously reported. He was directing traffic on Powers Ferry Road near the One River Place condominium complex when he was knocked to the ground just before 8 a.m.

While Leftwich drove away, another vehicle prevented the officer from being hit again in traffic, police Sgt. Sam Worsham said. The officer was able to return home after receiving stitches at Grady Memorial Hospital. He suffered a cut on his head.
Officers were able to track Leftwich’s vehicle to a nearby apartment complex, where she was arrested. She was 25 years old at the time.
Leftwich was indicted on counts of hit-and-run, serious injury by vehicle and four traffic citations, according to court records. She was initially denied bond before being granted a $157,170 bond in August, according to jail records.
