A woman was critically injured Thursday morning when a stolen car carrying a man, woman and child crossed into her lane and struck her head-on, Atlanta police said.
All three people in the stolen vehicle then got out and ran away, Atlanta police spokesman Anthony Grant said.
The wreck occurred about 11:15 a.m. in the 1800 block of Joseph E. Boone Boulevard in northwest Atlanta. Authorities said a stolen Hyundai Genesis heading west on Boone Boulevard was crossing into the oncoming lane and passing slower vehicles when it collided with a Chevrolet Spark.
The driver of the Spark, who was not identified, was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in critical condition, Grant said.
Witnesses said the male driver of the stolen vehicle appeared to have a head injury from the crash and the woman appeared to have injured her leg. The child’s condition is unknown.
Police said the Hyundai was reported stolen from a location on Hatteras Way on Jan. 10.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information about the collision or the Hyundai’s occupants is asked to call Atlanta police.
