Police said a man and woman were arguing in this Dodge Journey before the man shot her.

The woman was in the driver’s seat of the Dodge Journey when the two began arguing, police said.  As the argument intensified, the woman got out, witnesses told police. According to Channel 2, that’s when the man shot her in the back.

Authorities said officers found the woman bleeding with a gunshot wound to her torso when they arrived at the scene.

The man who shot her was gone, officials said. Witnesses told police he left in the SUV and got into a crash with a black pickup truck. Both the alleged shooter and the driver of the truck fled on foot, authorities said.

The woman was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital.

“The victim in the shooting ... has died as a result of injuries sustained from the incident,” Atlanta police spokesman Jarius Daugherty confirmed.

An investigation is ongoing.
