Rita Mary Dugar, 26, of Canton, was arrested without incident after deputies responded to the 100 block of Sunflower Lane in Covington about 2 a.m. Tuesday, Newton County sheriff’s spokeswoman Cortney Morrison said.

Jon Trevor Townley, 24, was shot during an argument with another man, according to the sheriff’s office. During the argument, Dugar fired a gunshot in the direction of Townley, hitting him, Morrison said. Townley was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
