Cherokee County school police and administrators are trying to find out who vandalized a popular symbol of school spirit at Woodstock High School.

Over the weekend, someone vandalized the school’s “spirit rock,” which is painted periodically by students for special occasions, school system spokeswoman Barbara Jacoby said.

“The rock was painted over with blue paint by the vandal(s),” Jacoby said.

Students repainted the rock Tuesday in honor of Maddi Phillips and Drew Bonat, students who died earlier this year.

The investigation is ongoing.
