A two-time felon who authorities say did not return to the Atlanta Transitional Center after work has been captured.

Billy Kendall Ford is a resident at the center on Ponce de Leon Avenue, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections. He is assigned to work an outside job in Mableton.

The department said Wednesday Ford “failed to return” to the center, one of 13 Georgia operates to ease prisoners back into society.

Ford is serving two sentences out of DeKalb and Cobb counties. According to court records, he was convicted of battery for a July 2011 incident involving family violence in DeKalb and sentenced to five years, with 90 days to serve in jail and the rest on probation.

In December 2017, he pleaded guilty to theft by taking in Cobb and was sent to prison. He was sentenced to one year behind bars and nine on probation.

Ford was nearing the end of his prison sentence and was scheduled to be released from custody June 4, online records show.

He was caught just before 9 a.m. Wednesday.
