A driver ran over a grandfather in East Point, killing him and leaving tire tracks and oil on his clothing, police said.

Dewey Edward Skidmore, 60, died of blunt force trauma to the chest when he was run over Sunday about 3:30 a.m.

The incident happened on an access road near busy Camp Creek Parkway in East Point, according to Channel 2 Action News.

Mark Skidmore, Dewey’s son, told Channel 2 police don’t have many clues.

“We located tire tracks on his clothing along with grease marks on the back of his trousers the front of his trousers and his shirt so that is definitely leading us toward some sort of vehicle that struck him,” Skidmore said.

Police hope surveillance cameras from nearby hotels and businesses can help.

The 60-year-old was a grandfather and a father of three boys

“[We loved him a lot we want to see justice done,” Skidmore said.

Daughter-in-law Brittany Wilson said she hopes someone comes forward to help police.

“How do you sleep that night, or the following night?” Wilson said. “How are you sleeping last night when you killed somebody? A father, a dad, a person.”

Donald Trump's administration deployed the military to Washington, D.C., in the name of fighting crime, and in an Aug. 11 news conference he mentioned the possibility of military being sent to other large American cities, all of which are led by Black, Democratic mayors. And while Atlanta wasn't included in Trump's list, the city fits that profile under Mayor Andre Dickens. (Photo Illustration: Philip Robibero / AJC | Source: Getty)

In 2022, Georgia Power projected its winter peak electricity demand would grow by about 400 megawatts by 2031. Since then, Georgia has experienced a boom of data centers, which require a large load of electricty to run, and Georgia Power's recent forecast shows peak demand growing by 20 times the 400-megawatt estimate from just three years ago.
