Gwinnett County police have a third suspect in custody in the armed robbery of a Wells Fargo bank in Lawrenceville in late December.

Marcus Rutledge, 24, was arrested without incident Tuesday and charged with robbing the bank in the 3000 block of Lawrenceville Highway. Thomas Birdsong, 41, turned himself in to police. Jamar Terrell, 26, was arrested a day after the bank robbery. All three have been charged with armed robbery and are being held at the Gwinnett County Detention Center without bond, police said.

The bank was held up around 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 28 when two men armed with a handgun and shotgun ordered tellers to fill a bag with money, according to police spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith. The men got away with $12,262.09 in cash and checks, authorities said.

Police were able to recover more than $10,000, when after a brief chase by officers, the men abandoned a Pontiac Grand Prix used as a getaway car and fled into the woods. They left a bag with $10,422.08 in cash and checks, a handgun and a shotgun inside the vehicle, police said.

The Pontiac was traced to Terrell. Police said Birdsong acted as a lookout for the robbers as he sat nearby in possibly a silver 1992 Honda Accord.
