Police are searching for four men who broke into a Macon gun shop Thursday and left with a small arsenal of weapons.

The thieves made off with eight AR-15 rifles and more than 50 handguns, including small pistols and large-caliber revolvers, the Macon Telegraph reported. The stolen weapons are valued over $60,000.

Buddy Webb, owner of the burglarized Classic Firearms gun shop, told the Telegraph he thinks the thieves want to sell the stolen weapons on the black market.

Four masked men broke in the front door early Thursday morning, knocking off a metal mesh screen covering the door and breaking through the door’s glass. A store security camera recorded the theft.

An investigation is ongoing.

Bibb County Sheriff David Davis told the Telegraph that investigators were looking for footage of the thieves captured on other video cameras in the area. The weapons’ serial numbers also may help police track them down, he said.

Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-746-9441 or Macon Regional CrimeStoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
