The condition of the 16-year-old girl who was shot in the back Saturday night at a Henry County party is improving, police said Wednesday.

Her condition has been upgraded from critical to stable, Henry police Sgt. Danny Gibbs said in a statement. She had undergone two surgeries at Atlanta Medical Center.

Also, Gibbs said police have been getting "good tips" on a person of interest in the shooting, identified Tuesday as 20-year-old Richard Andrew Dickerson. However, he remains at large, and is considered armed and dangerous.

The teen was shot at a pool party attended by more than 200 teens, police said. More than 70 shell casings were found at the scene, and one car had five bullet holes in it, police told Channel 2 Action News.

The shooting occurred about 11 p.m. along North Henry Boulevard.

Police already have in custody a man they believe may be involved in the shooting. Kordion Cousins, 19, was arrested the night of the shooting on an outstanding warrant. Details about that warrant were not released.

Police have not said if they think the girl was an intended target.
