A 17-year-old was arrested last week after being tied to a brutal robbery in southwest Atlanta from earlier this month, police said.

Attila Balogh of Atlanta is accused of being one of three suspects who beat store clerk Ibrahima Gaye with an ashtray during a Dec. 5 robbery, Channel 2 Action News reported. Atlanta police are still searching for the other two suspects.

Officer responded to Jess Food Mart at 833 Cascade Avenue just after 7:15 p.m. to find Gaye with a gash on his head, a bruised arm and a busted lip, according to a police incident report.

He told officers that three teenagers, who had previously shoplifted from his store, barged into the convenience store before attacking him.

He told police he tried to chase them out of the store, but he was hit in the head with an ashtray while one of the suspects stole the cash register, the report said. Gaye told Channel 2 that he had to go to the hospital because of his injuries.

Surveillance video obtained by the news station shows the suspects beat Gaye as he screamed for help, leaving him on the floor after one of them grabbed the cash register.
