A Nashville schoolteacher was arrested Monday after police said they found evidence that he had secretly recorded more than 40 elementary schoolchildren undressing over the span of more than four years.
Jarrett Andrew Jones, 30, is charged with two counts of especially aggravated sexual exploitation of minors and three counts of sexual exploitation of minors, the Tennessean reported. Additional charges are expected to be filed against Jones, who is being held in lieu of $100,000 bond.
The Tennessean reported that the two-week investigation leading to Jones' arrest began after he sought computer help from another teacher at Antioch High School, where he began as assistant band director at the start of the 2016-17 school year. The teacher noticed questionable files on Jones' computer and alerted police.
The files included video of elementary-age girls in various states of undress inside a closet in the music room at Napier Elementary School, where Jones taught from 2011 to 2015, the newspaper said. Fox 13 out of Memphis reported that investigators found more than 1,000 images of minors who appeared to be under the age of 12 and showed "lascivious exhibition of the minor female's breast and or genitals."
The investigation determined that Jones had young girls participating in school plays or choir performances change their clothes in the closet, where he had secretly set up video equipment, the Tennessean reported.
A search warrant executed at Jones’ home uncovered the equipment and, on his computer, more than 50 videos inside a folder titled “Napier.”
Jones has been on administrative leave since Sept. 9, when the school district first learned of the allegations against him, the newspaper reported.
