A taxi hit a bicyclist on the same block where a hit-and-run driver killed a 4-year-old girl as she walked to school, DeKalb County police said.

Tuesday’s accident happened about 7:40 a.m. in the 700 block of North Indian Creek Road, according to police.

“The taxi turned in front of the bicyclist, causing a collision,” Lt. Lonzy Robertson said.

The taxi initially left the scene, but was later found.

“The driver is cooperative, back on the scene, and didn't realize he struck anyone,” Robertson said.

He was charged with failure to maintain a lane, according to police.

The bicyclist was taken to a local hospital in stable condition, Robertson said.

The names of the taxi driver and the bicyclist have not been released.

The accident occurred nearly three weeks after a 2000-2001 charcoal gray Toyota Camry hit and killed Indian Creek Elementary pre-kindergartner Lun Thang as she walked to school on Oct. 18.

The car and the driver have not been found.

Anyone with information that may lead to the driver of the Camry is asked to call the DeKalb County Police Traffic Specialist Unit at 770-724-7610.
