Suspicious package cleared after DeKalb bank robbery

A robbery attempt at a SunTrust bank branch inside a Publix grocery store led to the temporary evacuation of the entire shopping center Friday afternoon after a suspicious package was left behind, DeKalb County police said.

The package, however, turned out to be harmless, according to Channel 2 Action News.

A bomb squad checked out the package, which was the shopping center on Hugh Howell Road, according to DeKalb police spokeswoman Mekka Parrish.

It was not immediately known whether the robber got away with any money from the SunTrust robbery.
