A suspect wanted by Atlanta police remains on the run after allegedly shooting at a MARTA police officer Saturday morning.

The officer was not harmed. He returned fire but it’s unknown whether he hit the suspect, whom he encountered around 6:30 a.m. just outside the Ashby Station in northwest Atlanta, according to MARTA spokeswoman Saba Long.

MARTA had received a call from Atlanta police asking them to be on the lookout for the unnamed suspect, Long said. He was wanted for participating in a robbery with shots fired, officials said. A physical description of the fugitive was not made available.

Some of the area remains roped off though rail and bus service has not been interrupted. The GBI is now assisting in the investigation.
