A woman charged with felony murder in the 1975 stabbing death of her 16-year-old roommate is in custody in Middle Georgia, officials said.

Mary Jane Stewart, 59, was arrested this month in San Antonio — 41 years after Cheryl White was found dead in an apartment they shared in Warner Robins, the Macon Telegraph reported.

No details were released on how authorities tracked Stewart, who was extradited Monday from Texas to Georgia.

Stewart said she had an “uneasy sensation” that something was wrong and went to her apartment about 10:30 p.m. Nov. 12, 1975, to check on White. She said White told her she wasn’t feeling well and went to bed.

Early the next morning, White was found dead with her throat cut and multiple stab wounds, according to the newspaper. Neighbors said they heard her scream and saw a man run from the apartment into the woods.

White had moved out of her parents’ house three weeks before she was killed, the Telegraph reported.
