The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is sorting through the details after two police officers fired multiple shots at a driver accused in a hit-and-run in Paulding County.
The incident happened shortly after 11 p.m. Saturday at East Cooper and Park Street in Dallas, Agent Greg Ramey said in a news release.
The officers involved told the GBI the driver, Cody McKenzie, “initially complied.”
But 25-year-old McKenzie started his car and tried to run over the officers as they got closer, Ramey said.
Both Dallas police officers fired multiple shots into the vehicle, which crashed in the 1500 block of Industrial Boulevard North.
The officers then stunned McKenzie with a Taser and arrested him. He had a wound to his right arm, Ramey said, but didn’t specify if the wound was caused by a bullet.
McKenzie was treated for his injuries and released into custody of the Dallas Police Department.
