A student at a north Fulton County elementary school allegedly brought a loaded gun on campus, according to Channel 2 Action News.

The River Eves Elementary School student allegedly showed the 9mm handgun to others who reported it to school officials. The student was arrested on charges of aggravated assault and bringing a gun onto school property, Channel 2 reported.

In a letter to parents, River Eves principal Neil Pinnock said the weapon was quickly confiscated with the assistance of a school police officer and the administrative team.

“The student has been removed from the school and will receive appropriate discipline,” he said Wednesday. “As alarming as this sounds, please know that this matter was handled swiftly and immediately. The learning process was not disrupted.”

River Eves is at 9000 Eves Road in Roswell.
