A report of a man passed out in a car in Woodstock led law enforcement officials to arrest four people in connection with drug trafficking, officials said.
It started Monday when Cherokee County sheriff’s deputies woke up 29-year-old Kelley Shiflett of Austell in a car parked outside a home on Holly Creek Way in Woodstock, agents with the county’s narcotics unit said on Facebook.
The driver, Katie Keais, 25, of Marietta, had gone inside and, when asked, Keais gave permission to search the car. Deputies said they found a revolver and a partially smoked marijuana cigarette in the car.
After determining that Keais and Shiflett went to the residence to buy drugs, deputies called the Cherokee Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad and asked the 64-year-old resident, Ricky Gordon Coggins, for permission to search the house, agents said.
Agents said they located about 24.7 grams of methamphetamine as well as two morphine pills and six Alprazolam pills. An additional 3.7 grams of meth was located in Shiflett’s pocket, for a street value of $3,124 in meth and pills, agents said.
Coggins was charged with possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute and possession of narcotic pain medication.
Shiflett was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of meth and possession of a misdemeanor amount of marijuana.
Keais was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a misdemeanor amount of marijuana.
Later Monday afternoon, police stopped 50-year-old Michael Lindsey Howell near Sixes Road and I-575. Once Howell was in handcuffs, a search of his truck resulted in finding more than a pound of methamphetamine concealed in the false bottom of a propane tank, police said.
The meth in the tank had an approximate street value of $27,000, police said.
