Skeletal remains were found Sunday morning in a wooded area near a busy Fulton County commercial district.
The remains were uncovered off Patton Drive, which is along the Fulton Industrial Boulevard corridor, according to Fulton County police spokesman Lt. Scott McBride. Not much is known about how they came to be there.
“There was not much of a crime scene, so we are going to have to wait until the medical examiner can hopefully (identify) the person,” McBride said in an email to Channel 2 Action News.
The GBI and a K-9 assisted the Fulton County Police Department at the recovery scene.
It is the second recovery made in the area of the Chattahoochee River in recent weeks. A woman’s body was found by boaters over the Fourth of July weekend, authorities said. It was pulled from the river south of I-20 in Fulton County.

The GBI has released a sketch in an effort to identify the victim. The Fulton County Medical Examiner has not been able to determine her cause of death, but there are no obvious signs of foul play, Channel 2 reported.
