A Rockdale County inmate walked away from work detail and stole a construction truck to escape Wednesday morning, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Timothy Allen Ward, 33, was arrested June 25 and was being held on numerous charges, including criminal trespass, false statements, identity fraud, theft and possession of drug-related objects, jail records showed.

Ward was on work detail when he walked away, and investigators believe he stole a truck from Latex Construction on Farmer Road in Conyers around 10:15 a.m.

The stolen truck is a 1997 white, extended bed Chevrolet C2500 with Latex Construction logos on the side, deputies said. It has Georgia tag IP150R and had a red generator in the truck bed.

Ward is a white male, 5-feet-6 inches tall, weighs 140 pounds and has brown hair with a receding hairline. He was last seen wearing a white shirt with pink shorts.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Ward or the truck is asked to contact the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office at 770-278-8000.
