A Forsyth County sheriff’s captain has resigned amid an internal investigation into inappropriate conduct after he allegedly made sexual remarks to a woman and showed her seized evidence, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Chris Barrett denied the accusations to Channel 2 on Monday after records were obtained by the news station in which the sheriff called the conduct “unacceptable.”

According to an audio recording with the alleged victim, she said Barrett was inappropriate with her at a South Forsyth County chiropractor's office where she worked.

“He would say stuff about my boobs and stuff like that,” she said. “It was just (something) I kept ignoring over time.”

The woman told investigators she was dating one of Barrett’s subordinates at the time, and she didn’t want to make an issue about Barrett’s actions since he might retaliate against her then-boyfriend.

She also told investigators Barrett often showed her pictures of drug-seizure evidence and offered to take her to an evidence room so they could “have sex.” She said Barrett showed her a picture of himself naked and asked for pictures of her.

However, Barrett told Channel 2 she only saw him with his shirt off and was trying to get him in trouble.

Sheriff Ron Freeman sent a statement to the news station that said: “I demand that my senior officers set an example in the agency ... if they do not, they can no longer work for the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.”

The sheriff’s office referred the incident to the Georgia Peace Officers Standards and Training Council for further review, the news station reported.
