After more than a week, the search continues for a man who shot and injured a Cobb County policeman.
A $5,000 reward has been offered for his capture.
Authorities are asking the public to contact police with any information about the shooter.
“We still need witnesses to come forward,” Officer Michael Bowman, a Cobb County police spokesman said.
Officer Daniel Rogers was among a number of officers canvasing the area near Concord Chase Apartments on the morning of July 12 in search of a stolen police rifle.
Police said Rogers encountered a suspicious individual, and the man fled.
Rogers chased the man, who turned and fired at least one shot, hitting the officer, police said.
Rogers was taken to a nearby hospital where he was treated and later released. But the unnamed shooter remains at large.
U.S. Marshals are now leading the search for the gunman. He is described as a black man with dark complexion, slim to medium build and short hair in twists. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and khaki pants.
Anyone with information on the gunman’s whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-8477.
