Deputies say a man made up a story about a snake being in the bathroom during a Valentine's Day robbery.

The Columbia County Sheriff's Office said Travis Ryan Pound, 24, used the line to get the store clerk away from the counter.

When the clerk returned, he saw the suspect stealing items from behind the counter.

The sheriff's office brought in a K-9 officer named 'Zombie' to track the suspect.  The dog led police to the Best Value Inn nearby.

Deputies arrested Pound in room 110 and recovered the stolen property.

Pound faces charges of petit theft and robbery.
