Fulton County’s medical examiner has identified remains found last week under an abandoned southwest Atlanta house as a mother of two reported missing 17 days ago.

The body of Ayesha Turner, 28, was found not far from her residence on Cascade Road. According to to the medical examiner’s office, Turner was killed by a blow to the head.

Investigators with the Atlanta police department discovered Turner’s remains on Thursday while following up on missing person reports.

APD Homicide Unit Commander Paul Guerrucci said at the time the remains appeared to had been under the house for “several days.”

The killer tried dismembering the body to a point where it would be hard to identify the woman, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Fay Turner told Channel 2 that a tattoo helped her identify her daughter and she hopes detectives find the person responsible for the crime.

“He didn’t have to do my baby like that,” she said.

No updates on the investigation were available, an APD spokesman said Monday.
