Puppy killed in DeKalb townhome fire

Tanya Jackson left her home early Monday to run a few errands.
She had been gone from her Lithonia townhome for an hour before she got the call from a neighbor that her house was on fire.
“She said the house was smoking,” Jackson told Channel 2 Action News. “…I got up, ran out of the salon and came here to open up the door to let my dog out.”
But the puppy, named Tidan, died in the blaze, Jackson said.

Jackson told Channel 2 she took her sons to get a hair cut and was getting her nails done when she learned about the fire that burned her Fairington Road home.
The mother of two said she’s thankful her family was not inside during fire, which investigators believe began at the back of the home, according to Channel 2.
Tears streamed down Jackson’s son, Tyrell, face as he learned about the puppy’s death.
“I had a lot of valuables that are very important to me,” Tanya Jackson said, “but that stuff, I’m not concerned about. We can get that back. I’m more hurt that my dog is dead and my boys are hurting because of that.”
