A 13-year-old Carroll County boy was shot to death in his bedroom while he slept, according to Channel 2 Action News.
Police in Carroll County told Channel 2 that the shooting was not accidental. The boy was gunned down in the middle of the night at his home on Chancery Lane in Carrollton, and his family found him Sunday.
Family members called 911 around noon and tried to race the boy to the hospital, Channel 2 reported, but he was already deceased.
Neighbors told Channel 2 the boy, who they identified as Nizzear Rodriguez, had celebrated his birthday with his grandmother at Applebee’s earlier Saturday, then returned home and was killed.
Police have not named any suspects. Homicide detectives are investigating.
